The Story Behind WLF
West Light Farm was concepted by two people, Betsy & Bernard, with an absolutely crazy dream. First acquired in 2018, our property was a no-name piece of farm land with buildings that hadn’t been cared for over the years. It was a diamond in the rough, and we were luckily able to see through the weeds, literally! Our dream was to take this unkept land, and restore it into not just a comfortable working farm, but a beautiful place to host elopements for couples looking to have a ceremony in a breathtaking location. Everything we have done has been created or renovated with so much love from the ground up!
The Farmhouse Renovation
Our 1960’s Farmhouse has had a larger than life transformation as well. What was once a neglected building has had new life breathed into it. We have slowly worked to take this old Florida-style cottage and re-build it from the studs up. The outside has been refreshed, and the front room in this building has been renovated as the smaller suite.
Barn Restoration
Our vision for West Light Farm is to be a uniquely modern farm that is unlike any of the other venue spaces in Northern Florida. Knowing what a lot of the area venues had to offer, we decided to do the exact opposite, and we started by creating a gorgeous all-white barn! We wanted to have a visually neutral space that fits all types of decor. And we didn’t just slap some paint on our barn. We expanded the two sides to hold more guests, we added a brand new roof and we painted the entire thing white!
